NETWORK TELEPHONE COMPLETES ROLLOUT OF T1 ACCESS CAPABILITY

PENSACOLA, Fla. (Dec. 20, 2001) – Network Telephone, a provider of bundled local, long distance and
broadband data services to small and medium businesses throughout the Southeast U.S., has completed the
rollout of T1 access capability to all 31 markets served within their eight state footprint. The rollout of T1
access capability enables Network Telephone to eliminate distance and technical limitations in the delivery of
their services. It also increases the number of targeted customers who can benefit from the use of Network
Telephone's bundled voice and data broadband services.

"We've had to turn away businesses wanting our popular package because they were located too far from our
service centers to receive high-speed DSL. Now Network Telephone can provide those businesses our
complete product offering," said Ray Russenberger, president and chief executive officer at Network
Telephone. "When the technology became available to extend the reach of our DSL service, we quickly
embraced the opportunity." Network Telephone began implementing the T1 technology in July, adding
Copper Mountain Networks, Inc. CopperEdge® T1 Line Cards to the Copper Mountain equipment already
installed at Network Telephone's service centers.

Package pricing will remain the same regardless of which delivery method is used. In the Pensacola, Fla.
market for example, businesses are offered 320 Kbps DSL access, local and long distance calling, their choice
of calling features, Web site hosting, Web site development tools, and email for a package price of $223 per
month, plus applicable taxes and regulatory fees. Pricing varies by market in the eight states that Network
Telephone serves, including: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina,
and Tennessee.
