Creative Recycling Systems Is Awarded State Electronics-Recycling Contract

Tampa-based Creative Recycling Systems, Inc. (CRS) was recently awarded the recycling services contract for end-of-life electronics equipment for all State of Florida agencies and institutions.

The State has engaged the 11-year-old company to collect, de-manufacture and recycle end-of-life electronics equipment such as: computers, monitors and cathode ray tubes (CRTs), peripheral equipment, televisions, telephones, and other recoverable and or reusable electronic equipment generated by State of Florida agencies. Under the terms of the contract, other state facilities such as state universities, local public agencies, school systems and municipalities may also recycle their electronics with CRS.

“Creative Recycling Systems is proud to be given the opportunity to provide Florida with a viable solution to its obsolete and surplus electronic equipment that is both economically and ecologically beneficial to the state,” said Jon Yob, President of CRS.

CRS has established itself as one of the state’s leaders in electronics recycling and currently provides services to numerous counties and government agencies as well as various businesses of all sizes. CRS worked with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in a pilot project to establish electronics recycling infrastructures in counties throughout the state.

According to the National Safety Council, over 30 million computers become obsolete each year in the U.S., with higher numbers likely to follow. CRS estimates it processed more than 100,000 computer monitors and 25,000 televisions last year, which translates to more than 4 million pounds of raw materials. Under this contract, CRS will collect tens of thousands of units of various sizes and types of electronics equipment over the next two years.
