Web site Redesign Wins Red Baron Media Award

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., July 31, 2002 - Infinity Software Development Inc., an information technology consulting and software development firm, today announced that a Web site it redesigned for the Florida State Fair won a Red Baron Media Award at the 8th annual Florida Festivals and Events Association convention held July 18-20.

Infinity Software Development redesigned the Web site, www.floridastatefair.com making the site easier to navigate and maintain. Additionally, Infinity’s designers improved the consistency of the site’s look-and-feel, incorporating signature State Fair architectural elements into the interface, such as the Fair’s Spanish windows, colors and arches. The technologies utilized in this project include ASP, Visual Basic, HTML, and ORACLE.

The redesigned Web site placed second in the “Best Web site” competition in its category. The Florida State Fair was in stiff contention with its peers, as hundreds of entries were received from festivals and special events throughout Florida. Categories were divided based on total event budgets.

“Thanks to Infinity’s redesign, we now have a flexible platform to reach our public,” said Sherry Powell, Director of Adverting and Marketing for the Florida State Fair. “Visitors to the site are swept along on a virtual tour of the fairgrounds, where they have access to up-to-date information on State Fair events. Because they included a special HTML editor, State Fair administrators can also create and edit HTML content without having to know the complexities of Web site development and management.”

The Florida State Fair Authority, chaired by Mr. Lee Roy Selmon, operates the Florida State Fairgrounds, located in Tampa, Fla. The Florida State Fair is held annually in association with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Charles H. Bronson, Commissioner. The 99th annual Florida State Fair will take place February 6-17, 2003.

Based in Boynton Beach, Fla., the Florida Festivals and Events Association is a member organization whose mission is to promote and strengthen the festival, event and fair industry in Florida through education, networking, dissemination of information and the cultivation of high standards for the industry.
