Novell CTO to Speak at Gulf Coast Tech Summit
(Pensacola, Fl) Alan Nugent, Chief Technology Officer and Sr. Vice President at Novell, Inc., will give the keynote address Wednesday, September 25 during the VIP Reception for the 2002 Gulf Coast Technology Summit and Exposition 2002.
Nationwide, Novell is the leading provider for Net Business Solutions, with sales exceeding one billion dollars annually.
Mr. Nugent's role at Novell includes responsibility for promoting Novell's open-standards, cross-platform technologies, helping evangelize Novell's security, provisioning and networking solutions with customers. The topic of his keynote address will be Service Oriented Architectures, with an emphasis on spotlighting how web services are an emerging architectural model for developing and deploying software applications.
Immediately following the VIP Reception will be a Town Hall Meeting. Topics will range from IT related issues around our state and region to entrepreneurial initiatives that are taking place in this part of the state to economic development related issues. Bob Solarski, News Anchor from WEAR-TV 3 in Pensacola will be the host and serve as moderator for the event.
The panelists are: Dick Santillo, Eastern Regional V.P., Cox Business Services; Brett Doster, Deputy Director, Florida's Office of Tourism and; Huy Nguyen, President, Cogon Systems; Al Cook, Director Florida's Great Northwest; Randy Hammer, Executive Editor, Pensacola News Journal; Ian Talbott, Chief Technical Officer, Eglin AFB; Dr. Richard Hawkins, Acting Director, Haas Center for Business Research and Economic Development.
The Gulf Coast Technology Summit and Exposition, September 25 - 27 at the Pensacola Civic Center, is expected to attract 3000 attendees. Sponsored by Escambia County, Florida, the Summit highlights 80-90 exhibitors and more than 40 seminars. The Summit is the only IT conference from Jacksonville to New Orleans, a region that is rich in technology firms.
