IBA CONSULTANTS ROLL MOBILE LABORATORY INTO SOUTHWEST FLORIDA FOR ON-SITE PRODUCT COMPLIANCE TESTING, FAILURE INVESTIGATION

SARASOTA, Fla. – June 28, 2002 – IBA Consultants, one of the country’s leading experts in curtain-wall construction, announces the launch of its mobile test laboratory. Designed for on-site failure investigation, the IBA Mobile Lab, which will service the entire Southwest Florida region, is designed to help evaluate an existing window system’s performance through a variety of field tests and will service all of the west coast

The timing of the mobile lab in Southwest Florida coincides in part with the launch of the new Florida building code. While the new code mostly relates to new construction, a retrofit condition states that windows replaced in an existing dwelling must meet the new code. The IBA Mobile Lab can provide area developers and condominium associations with a report on whether the system has completely failed, thus requiring new code-compliant systems, or if it can be repaired to perform at a higher level.

* Test method for strength of anchors in concrete and masonry.
* Method for field measurement of air leakage through installed windows and doors.
* Standard test method for anchorage of permanent metal railing system and rails for buildings.
* Standard test method for performance of permanent metal railing system and rails for buildings.
