Enterprise Development Corp. Taps Tyco Executive for Board of Directors
Boca Raton, FL – April 24, 2002 - The Enterprise Development Corporation (EDC), a public/private partnership specializing in providing strategic business development services to emerging science and technology companies, announced today that Georgina Burt, Vice President Global Procurement for Tyco International has joined its Board of Directors. “With a significant presence right here in Boca Raton, we are well-positioned to be involved with the local community, and help EDC with its mission to facilitate the creation and growth of these emerging businesses,” stated Ms. Burt. “I am particularly interested in the mentor/protégé program that EDC is administering through a grant from the US Small Business Administration, and look forward to contributing to its success.” “Tyco has supported EDC’s events and goals in the past, and we are delighted that Ms. Burt has come forward to share her valuable experience with the EDC family,” stated Jane Teague, Executive Director, EDC. “She brings a wealth of practical business experience with her, and we look forward to leveraging her expertise on behalf of our organization and the local business community.”
Georgina Burt has been a consultant and senior-level manager, specializing in IS technologies for communication and knowledge access. She has broad expertise and hands-on experience managing multiple plant functions including global procurement and supply base development, international marketing, production planning and manufacturing information systems.
She has demonstrated proficiency in the international environment by successfully negotiating executive level business alliances and managing across diverse cultures. In addition to being bilingual, her principle strengths include strategic planning, change program management, process re-engineering, and the leadership of people in achieving performance breakthroughs. She is an advocate of an empowered, multicultural, team-based work style. She has a Doctorate in Economics and has taught in the Business/Economics School at University of New Hampshire and in her native Budapest, Hungary.
