— SC Magazine says CyberGuard provides the “Rolls Royce of firewalls” —

Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. – April 16, 2002 – CyberGuard Corporation (OTCBB: CYBG), the technology leader in network security, today announced that the company's KS (KnightSTAR) premium firewall/VPN appliance has earned the SC Recommended Award and an overall five-star rating – the highest rating possible – from SC Magazine. The review appeared in the April issue of the magazine, which covers information security news and developments around the world.

SC Magazine’s review stated, “CyberGuard has taken a singular approach to the firewall market, and basically provides the Rolls Royce of firewalls.” Describing customers as enterprises such as banks and government agencies with “a greater than usual need for security,” the article went on to describe the range of CyberGuard products as offering “a turnkey solution with a surprising focus on usability.”

The review listed a number of positive highlights including:
· pre-loaded firewall software, evaluated to Common Criteria EAL4, based upon a B2-level hardened OS;

· CD-ROM and floppy drive so in the event of emergency, reinstallation is almost immediate;
· wide variety of proxies including NAT, SMTP, http, Lotus Notes and LDAP as well as SmartProxy facility which allows for load balancing and customized proxy definition;
· “one of the simplest installation routines going – virtually plug-and-play – coupled with extensive functionality.”

Finally the review concluded, “If you have the sort of enterprise that demands the highest level of security, the KnightStar is well worth the cost. Installation, configuration and maintenance are superb, and the functionality is unbelievable.”
