CLEARWATER, Fla. Apr 4th -- Starphire Technologies announced today the release of the newest version of its web-based content management software, SiteSage(TM) 4.0, designed to provide enhanced management of Web content without the need for HTML proficiency or outside technical resources.
"SiteSage 4.0 is an exciting update to our product line because of its enhanced features and improved user-friendliness," said Michael Murdock, president & CEO of Starphire Technologies. “With the new visual ‘Browse-To-Build’ feature web site maintenance is unbelievably easy – anyone who can navigate the web can manage a web site.”
SiteSage provides small to medium-sized businesses the ability to launch and maintain complete Web sites -- from simple brochure-type content to e-commerce and search engine services -- without requiring ongoing support from technical staff. "Our customers find SiteSage allows them to take back control of their Intranet or Internet initiatives," adds Murdock. "They can refresh and update their Web site content frequently without the need for additional staff or extensive training." SiteSage 4.0 is entirely server based, with no special client computer requirements other than a web browser and an Internet connection. This permits updates to a customers site to be made from work, home, or the public library if need be. With the release of SiteSage 4.0, Starphire has redesigned the user interface to provide even more power to the non-technical Web site content manager while adding dozens of new features.
Among the new features are the ‘Browse-to-Build’ capability, an improved font style manager, updated electronic commerce capabilities, integrated message boards, mailing list manager, dealer locator service, and support for intranet/extranets.
An equally significant upgrade is the support SiteSage provides for third-party vendors and developers. These partners can now use the new platform to deliver new functionalities and custom features to their business customers. “SiteSage uses a modular, extensible architecture that permits new functionality to be easily plugged in. With this approach, VAR developers can focus on adding value through custom new features specific to their markets rather than maintaining content," explains Brian Mintz, CEO of ExitNow, a Starphire VAR. "In turn, we can provide our customers’ internal administrative staff the ability to maintain day-to-day content -- and do it more economically. The bottom line is that SiteSage offers our customers unparalleled ease and flexibility in designing and maintaining their Web site cost effectively while giving us a proven, extensible, software platform to build upon. Based in Clearwater, Fla., Starphire Technologies (http://www.starphire.com) develops, markets and delivers innovative technologies for content management. The core product is SiteSage, a proven platform for delivering Web content management and controlled editing rights to non-technical staff, without the need to learn HTML. Starphire received an initial equity investment from Newtek Capital Inc. (AMEX: NKC) in September 2000.
