ORLANDO -- Join the Central Florida Innovation Corporation (CFIC) and our event sponsor Business Wire of Florida, at the annual March Venture Forum to spotlight women in technology!
Many of Central Florida’s top high tech business executives are women, and their success stories are noteworthy. CFIC’s Annual March Venture Forum will showcase three distinguished female panelists that will discuss their high tech careers, how they got their start, and what helped them make it to the top.
The panelists include Beverly Kitaoka, Group Senior Vice President for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). Kitaoka has over twenty-six years experience in the research, development, and management of commercial and Department of Defense (DoD) software-intensive systems.
She devotes time to multiple colleges and universities around the country and provides internships and jobs to several students through Applied Software Systems Engineering Technology (ASSET) Group, an SAIC program she developed with over 400 employees and annual revenue of more than $60 million. ASSET Group was recognized as one of Central Florida’s Top 25 Family Friendly Companies for the past three years, and regarded by the State as one of the “Best Florida Employers for Working Women.”
Other panelists include Dr. Pamela McCauley-Bell, President and owner of Tech-Solutions, Inc., a small business that provides technical consulting and research services. In addition, she is Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering and Management Systems at the University of Central Florida.
Dr. McCauley-Bell became the first known African-American female to be granted a Ph.D. in the field of Engineering in the state of Oklahoma. Last year, she received the “Millennium of the Year 2001” award by the Millennium Woman Foundation. Other honors include the Saturn/Glamour Magazine “Women Making A Difference Award” 2000 and “Outstanding Woman of Color in Technology Award for Educational Leadership” in 1999.
The final panelist is Lilian Myers, partner of eGlobal Strategies, a company formed to help clients discover new opportunities and provide planning and support. Myers was a co-founder of Visteon Corporation, a software development company. She also spent five years with Microsoft working with independent software vendors. Myers serves on the board of directors for the Technology Industry Development Governance Board for the Economic Development Commission of Mid-Florida and the Children’s Home Society of Florida.
