TAMPA, FL — Jan. 23, 2002: LocalO and its business plan for a membership management solution for organizations was one of only three companies selected by TechVillage, Tampa Bay’s new technology incubator/accelerator for onsite mentoring services. LocalO’s founder, Jeeni Criscenzo, was inspired to create EasyMgr™ while building websites for various types of organizations. She recognized that a data-driven website was only a partial answer to improving the way an organization serves its members. "The fact that our clients were using desktop applications, such as Microsoft Access or Excel, to manage membership and events, while separately maintaining content on their websites, meant that they were duplicating data entry efforts. It simply isn’t efficient," Criscenzo explains.
The "legendary light bulb" lit up when, as president of a professional association, Criscenzo experienced first hand what can happen when staff or board members change in an organization. "When someone leaves, procedures often go out the door with them — sometimes valuable data can disappear too, leaving the new board or committee to re-invent the wheel over and over again."
According to Criscenzo, EasyMgr resolves both efficiency problems and the frustrating loss of institutional memory. Following a rigorous selection process, LocalO, Inc. was given the nod to move into the TechVillage incubator last December.
EasyMgr is being developed by local software developer, TechGroup 21 Inc. In addition to the ASP/website package, TechGroup 21 Inc is building more than 30 plug-in modules that will enhance the EasyMgr suite of management tools with additional features, such as e-commerce, members’ forum, job bank and fund raising. Packaged suites will be available for professional associations, charities, country clubs, chambers of commerce and religious organizations. LocalO expects to have the ASP/website operational by the end of January for the Lakeland Metro Chapter of NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners).
Based in Tampa, Florida, LocalO, Inc. (www.easymgr.com) provides web-based management solutions for associations.
