Saint Leo University Offers Accredited Multimedia Online Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice
TAMPA, FL – As local, regional and national law enforcement agencies recruit candidates based on education and civil service test scores, Saint Leo University, one of the nation’s largest providers of multimedia online accredited bachelor’s degrees, has announced the addition of an online Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice to give law enforcement candidates and current law enforcement officials the needed knowledge for a successful career in criminal justice.
While traditional campus-based college degree programs fit the schedules of some working adults, law enforcement professionals are a different breed. It is difficult for law enforcement officers to attend campus-based degree programs because of irregular work schedules. The Saint Leo University Online Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Degree program now makes it possible for law enforcement candidates and professionals to earn their Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice entirely online without ever setting foot on campus through its partnership with the University Alliance, a Bisk Education Network, (www.universityalliance.com).
“Saint Leo University has offered the bachelor’s degree program in Criminal Justice since 1970,” said Jack Jordan, Adjunct Professor, Saint Leo University, and Chief Deputy Sheriff of Sumter County, FL. “Over 2,000 of the program’s graduates are currently employed in law enforcement. The program is based on a national curriculum model designed to prepare students for careers in the criminal justice system, enhance the effectiveness of working professionals, provide the foundation for advancement to administrative levels and prepare for graduate study in Criminal Justice and related fields including law school.”
Saint Leo University requires students to complete the general education requirements, 39-credit hours of Criminal Justice common courses, with the opportunity to complete the remaining 15-credit hours within one of three specialization areas – Human Service, Administrative or a combined Human Service-Administrative specialization, in which students can create a customized curriculum that best fits their needs and goals.
“As an e-Learning industry leader, the University Alliance continues to add to our selection of degree programs because we are meeting the demands of the market,” said Bisk Education, Inc. Chairman and Founder Nathan M. Bisk. “Saint Leo University’s Criminal Justice Degree program is ideal for working adults interested in a law enforcement career and for criminal justice professionals whose rise in the ranks is tied in with earning a bachelor’s degree.”
The Online Criminal Justice Degree program features web-based “classrooms” that are designed with the very latest technology to give students the “digital tools” they need to enhance their educational experience. These tools include 24/7 on-demand video streamed lectures that allow students to view the lectures as many times as they need; an asynchronous online bulletin board that permits students and faculty to interact on key topics and chat rooms that are used by instructors to host “virtual” office hours where students can collaborate real-time with faculty members. No on- campus classroom attendance is required.
The online instructors are the same faculty and professionals that teach “on-campus” at Saint Leo University. Faculty members are also current law enforcement professionals employed throughout Florida including the Sumter County Sheriff’s Department, Hernando County Sheriff’s Department and the Tampa Police Department.
