John Lie-Nielsen, president, HandySource, announces that the company has expanded its Web site, www.handysource.com, to include two new customer service functions: a warranty tracking service and a corporate log-in function. Both services were launched today.
“Our mission is to provide the highest level of customer service available,” stated Lie-Nielsen. “With these two new functions, our customers now have additional methods of making their jobs easier and more productive.”
Warranty Tracking allows the property manager to enter new product warranty information into a database that is stored on the HandySource site. Information such as serial numbers, model numbers and warranty levels, which could include various levels for parts and service, can be entered. Additional information, such as unit numbers or location, installation date and model color can be added.
With the information stored in a Web-centric format, managers have a convenient method of checking warranty records from various locations to see if the equipment is still under warranty. In cases where original warranties were not filed or lost, managers can save a lot of money by having the equipment repaired under the warranty agreement rather than paying for covered repairs or parts.
The corporate log-in function gives regional managers and other executives the opportunity to manage the purchasing activities of several property locations from one terminal. With the use of a drop down box, regional managers can select any property under their authority, to monitor the purchasing transactions (e.g., products, quantities, dollars spent) or issue bid requests for individual properties or the entire region. Additionally, the regional manager can make maintenance, repair and operating (MRO) purchases for an individual location or for every property in his/her region in cases when the local manager is away.
Beyond making and reviewing MRO transactions, the regional manager can also review variance, trend and activity reports for individual properties or for the entire region. Also, the manager can approve purchase order requests made by local property managers. If needed, the regional manager can make changes to the purchase order and, since the function is Web-centric, continue the transaction process without having to be in the home office.
“Regional managers can be on the road a lot in visiting their different properties,” states Lie-Nielsen. “Often times, they have to wait until they are back in the corporate office before they can approve or edit purchase order requests, which holds the entire process up. Now, they can do these day-to-day functions from where ever they can obtain an Internet connection for their laptop.”
HandySource is a business-to-business e-commerce bid and purchase portal for the multi-family and commercial real estate industries. The company was formed in 1999 as a sister company to HandyTrac Systems, Inc., a leading supplier of computerized key control systems to the multi-housing industry. The company’s corporate office is located in Bradenton, Fla. It also has regional support / training centers in Atlanta and Dallas with an additional four centers (Chicago, Phoenix, San Francisco and Washington) planned throughout the United States.
